Antonyms are words that mean the opposite of one another. Hot and cold are examples of antonyms.
Many people today make the mistake of believing that being human is Somehow the opposite of being religious that being human is less important, less valuable, and less purposeful than being religious. Only to deny their humanness thinking it is somehow baser and less evolved than their esoteric or mysterious side. But nothing could be farther from the truth.
We are here using a human experience for a reason. We are not stuck here or waiting to go home. We are here in order to experience life in all its permutations – human life, in human bodies, with human emotions, and we are designed to create human mistakes. Recall, too err is human. It is all part of the experience.
And, being great humans, we have made our share of mistakes. One of them is trying so hard to accomplish things, that we miss out on the joy of living in each moment, each day. But as Lauren Gorgo states, we not look to life as something that has to be achieved, but as something that begs to be experienced.
Another big mistake we have made believes that one of our aims is to rise over our humanness and become religious. While it is fascinating to learn how to live more consciously become more religious, it is extremely important that we not shun our humanity in the procedure. They are a part and parcel of our packaging, and they are intended to work together, not individually.
Being religious means being the best person you can be. French Philosopher-priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin said it best; we are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
So while it is great to develop your spiritual character, always keep in mind that the aim is to apply it to your everyday human life to bring your inner character and deepest understanding to your everyday individual experiences like how you decide to respond to missing luggage, for example.
Living through your religious character while manifesting generator in human form is residing Consciously, living with consciousness, living from the higher law of love, living without ruling, discovering, living peacefully, choosing love over fear, determining your internal climate, seeing with your heart, recognizing your own greatness, and mastering yourself.
It is discovering joy in the everyday occurrences of life, even if they might seem cluttered or challenging. It is expressing your religious nature through your humanness, daily, hourly, in each moment.
In short, adopt your humanity and learn how to express your spiritual nature, for both of these words are not antonyms, but instead two concepts which are integrally intertwined, and which work best when woven together.
So while you are busy growing yourself , encourage you to Embrace your individual nature, to accept that you are a spiritual being having a human experience, and that you are supposed to be here, intended to be alive this way, supposed to be completely human with all its messiness and foibles.
